Traditional classrooms have visual aids on the walls to help students comprehend and duplicate the subject matter. Foreign language rooms have colorful posters of fantastic places, conjugation charts, and word walls to name a few.
Teaching during construction means transitioning to multiple classrooms where Spanish will not be the only subject taught. My students rely on some of my posters and charts to remind them what we are talking about - I am speaking in another language so they need the cues these posters provide to build vocabulary and fluency.
This cart will give me a place to post verbs, charts, and vocabulary using magnets so that I can switch them for Spanish level and for different topics within the levels. It can also carry current readers (reading builds vocabulary and comprehension) for each class and other class materials without damaging them by stuffing them in a bag.
Taking my students outside for class will be much easier as well. I can toss sidewalk chalk or readers on for some time in the outdoor classroom. My students love being outside and learning at the same time.
