The curriculum my students have in 4th grade reading is so rigorous it's nice for kids to have an escape from that. Using my classroom library for guided reading lessons on history and diversity as well as just letting their minds escape from reality for a bit to visit faraway lands or just learn about bugs will allow my kids to grow a love for reading instead of just looking at it as a chore.
With these new books, I want my students to grow not only their reading levels but their interests and their passions as well. I know that having these books available in my classroom for them will make a huge difference in their reading ability and will allow them to read just for fun!
