These materials will make a difference to my students by giving them away to learn about ownership and responsibility. They will need to take care of their buckets and baskets to keep them nice and clean throughout the year.
Some students may be nervous and anxious coming into Kindergarten because of anything they have witnessed or dealt with in the previous year with COVID. Most children have never been in the school setting before. Hopefully, when they walk in on the first day of Orientation and see their name printed on a bucket and basket knowing they will get to have their own personal items, they can start to feel at home and at ease to just focus on learning.
We are also a Title 1 school and have many students who don't know what it is like to have any belongings of their own and my goal as a teacher is to always make my students feel happy, loved, and safe. I think if I'm able to get a bucket for each student as well as buckets for their materials on their tables I can establish a sense of ownership.
