School supplies affect student learning by helping students engage with their assignments. Kids owning or having a backpack full of supplies is comforting to them knowing they have paper, pencil, crayons, scissors, and other school materials ready to take out when the teacher asks for them and they feel proud. When students do not have a pencil, they tend to sit quietly and not respond to questions or interact as problems are being solved. They may feel ashamed knowing some students will stare them down because they don't have the essential tools to complete classroom tasks.
Everyone values stability. Having all you need helps a child feel confident. It helps them function in the classroom knowing they have the tools they need to accomplish the task. By having these at-home backpacks students will have the necessary tools to complete tasks at home. They will be able to use the whiteboard and letters to practice writing or formulating words as they prepare for a spelling test or decoding words as they practice reading.
Providing students with the necessary tools makes an impact on student learning as it boosts their self-esteem and helps them practice hands-on building words or sentences. This will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus but it will also help increase their academic achievement.
