The use of technology is a daily activity in our school. The students in the special education classes are usually the last students given access to the up-to-date technology because of some of their behaviors. By giving them access to items such as tablets will help the students learn to properly use technology without fear of them damaging the more expensive equipment. Due to their varying abilities, the use of headphones will help students remain confident while completing assignments that may be two or more grades below grade level. They will be able to complete their bi-weekly progress monitoring, enjoy independent reading time, and learn using computer software and online games.
The use of the tablets will help my students to be included in a world where they are usually excluded. They will be able to have access to a more modern technology in the classroom instead of the outdated desktops they have been given. In this technology world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their desire to learn. It will also help them to become independent, productive students!
