This year has been extremely rough on everyone! I try to encourage active participation in school and to keep kids engaged in what they are learning. I believe positive reinforcements and rewards are a great way to motivate students and keep them interested in school. I give my students "gotcha" tickets for anything they do that they should be doing. I buy prizes for them out of my own pocket. The students can then use their gotcha tickets to buy items from the "gotcha" store. Students in the class run the gotcha store and get paid gotcha tickets for doing so. I have jobs in the classroom (such as timekeeper) and students get 鈥減aid鈥 gotcha tickets for doing the jobs they do. This real-world application has helped all students have a better knowledge of math.
I have always tried to motivate my students to do their best, but this year we all need a little more encouragement and motivation. I use my own money to buy supplies, food, snacks, prizes (like puzzles, mini games, etc) but am in need of some additional items for my gotcha store. Students love food and snacks. They love to use their gotcha tickets to 鈥渂uy鈥 food. I have included some items that my students are interested in.
Also, I teach all levels of students, including special education. Most students prefer to choose what they sit on and how they learn. I provide them a couple different options for seating, but I only have a couple chairs that roll and another that is padded. The students would love to have a choice in what they sit in and how they learn. Is there any way you would be able to help with this?
