The students connect with the characters they learn about. Through conversation, needs are recognized and the kids are encouraged to do something! I love watching the kids develop a passion to act and make an impact. We have read several books this year that have called the kids into action. Through reading "Freak the Mighty," we challenged the labels we use with each other. Through reading, "An Invisible Thread," we have invested time in growing compassion and kindness in the culture of the school. I have requested books to help my students learn about different people in the world and their lives. Books inspire the kids to action!
