As a 6th grade ELA and Science teacher, my job is to prepare my students in their last year of elementary school for high school learning. With our ELA Genre studies, students get the change to explore multiple different types of genres beyond Fiction and Nonfiction, and discuss these books as a group, as well as how the different situations fit in with their lives.
The "100 Things to Know About" series really breaks down different topics for students, things they might know a lot about and want to expand their knowledge even more, or topics that they have just learned about and want to explore deeper. This series will really help tie different STEM topics into our ELA learning. This year we read "100 Things to Know About Saving the Planet" on Earth Day, and the students loved it. I wish I would have found that series of books sooner!
