When a student musician gets braces it can severely curb their enthusiasm for playing an instrument due to the pain often associated with the hardware cutting into the lips. I have several students presently who are struggling with this issue and would love the opportunity to have some mouthpieces at school for them to use that will alleviate the discomfort and help them enjoy the experience of being in band. Often times, braces need to be worn for several years. If I can find a mouthpiece that will allow a child to play without discomfort, I may be able to watch them grow instead of regress and even quite due to frustration.
