I teach at The Grayson Post, which is a part of the Grayson County Juvenile Justice Department. I am employed by Sherman ISD and we have male residential students in grades 6-12. The female facility is across the street and I work with them online daily. Many of my students have been out of school for extended periods of time until Court appointed to us. Reading is something that they embrace upon arrival because it is one of a few free-time activities. Trying to stay up on popular Young Adult books for both male and female students is such a pleasure, but it is difficult to keep up with all the wonderful books and authors. We use a lot of social justice themed books and those that reflect many cultures.
