Our new school is not allowing the use of rugs. Rugs in an elementary classroom can be a vital meeting spot for students and teachers during mini lessons.
My class has not had a common meeting area for lessons this year, and have had to sit at desks during my lessons. I'd like to have an option besides the desks, where students spend most of their day working.
Floor cushions would allow students to sit comfortably during mini lessons, and give them a break from sitting at their desks. It also allows movement around the classroom, which helps get them reading for learning/working.
