Clarksville Elementary School will be emplimenting W.I.N. Time. It stands for What I Need. So, students that need extra time in a subject such as math, for example, they will be given a set time, every day, to go to a classroom where the teacher will be focused on their math stanards. However, the students that have already mastered the standards will be placed in a classroom with an activity teacher (art, music, P.E., etc.) for enrichment activities.
I will be teaching the students watercolor techniques while focusing primarily on the art of, Clarksville native, Imogene McConnell Ragon. I want the students to see someone that grew up in their hometown an went on to be an art teacher, professor, and was overall well known for her beautiful plein air (outdoor) watercolor paintings that feature historic locations in Akransas. We will also learn about different locations in Arkansas throughout the process.
I will also be rotating in other enrichment activities such as mixed-media weaving. The weavings would include yarn, beads, and even paper that we have dyed using liquid watercolor. These activies will give the students a time and place to learn something that is fun and outside of the scope of what can be covered in the typical 45 minute class period.
