The standard chairs for our elementary classroom do not meet the needs of all learners. The goal and purpose of the Wobble Chairs are to assist students with attention deficits, as well as an inability to focus during whole group instruction and independent learning activities. The Wobble Chairs are designed for movement while being seated, and also assists with focus and improved memory. While this is beneficial for everyone, the movement is especially helpful for tactile and kinetic learners of all ages.
Studies show that rocking motions can help calm the brain and facilitate concentration. There are also students with health conditions who require movement or alternate seating. Research has proven that allowing for alternative seating options enhances the learning process and acquisition of knowledge for students. This, in turn, results in the relief of excess energy, hyperactivity, and greater academic achievement for our classroom community.
