Children who develop strong reading skills perform better in school and have a healthier self-image. The listening center I have planned, will instill the love of reading and reading skills that our youngest learners need to excel in school.
By utilizing a listening center, my students will be able to see how the words on the page can come to life in a fluid, expressive way. My students will be able to build sight vocabulary, improve their listening skills and be exposed to a variety of story structures.
Upon entering Pre-Kindergarten almost everyone of my students will be non-readers. The listening center will help them learn new vocabulary, listen to good interpretive reading and develop the critical listening skills necessary to become good readers.
