With limited learning supplies in my classroom, my students are not able to use manipulatives during math time. Using manipulatives will help my students see the math they are working on. Whether it is learning new math or practicing concepts and strategies they have already learned, my students would benefit having more than just a pencil and a paper. Materials like counters and 3D shapes will help my students feel in their hands the math they are learning. My students have been using a pencil and a paper to help them add and regroup which becomes really confusing with a lot of crossing out or erasing. With counters they will be able to easily regroup and see what is happening when they do it.
