In third grade, readers go from learning to read to reading to learn. Concepts become more intense and less concrete. Eight and nine year olds are expected to infer, draw conclusions, use context clues to figure out meaning, and so many more skills that are expected to be mastered during this pivotal year. While we have an incredibly print-rich classroom, full of a variety of books and materials, who doesn't love to learn through play at any age?
By supporting this Ðǿմ«Ã½.org project, you will be helping to bring 14 board games to the fingertips of these children and many more to come over the years. Students will learn the grade level standards expected in ELA, but will have the opportunity to practice them by playing games with friends. Therefore, they are not only practicing reading and writing skills, but social skills and problem solving as well!
