Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. With your help during independent work times, they can choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Manipulatives and learning games are great tools to engage students and enhance their learning experience. All the supplies listed will be used daily in our classroom to help support the learning of all my students. Pop sockets will be used to help students with segmenting and blending as they learn to read. The sentence building game will help students learn sentence formation and sight words, writing sentences and learning sight words is a huge standard in kinder. I also try to integrate teaching mindfulness daily because for most of my students this is their first school experience and it is important to teach them about respect and kind acts. Cutting is also very important in kinder, we cut almost daily because cutting helps with fine motor skills, the scissors and caddy will help keep everything organized for the children. Lastly, I included a No Yell Bell to help with transitions in the classroom because as you can imagine a room full of 24-25 5-year-olds can get pretty loud. As a first-year teacher, during a pandemic, it has been difficult to acquire these items that will benefit my kiddos but I am optimistic that with your support it will be possible.
