Currently, I am using an old projector on a cart and I am projecting on a wall. The school has ordered an interactive Newline board. However, this board needs an Apple TV and Microsoft Surface Pro to interact with my math lessons. We can do things like transformations among other concepts which will give students visual understanding. Not only can I share this technology on their Chromebooks but they will have the ability to share their work in group discussions. I currently teach high school credit Algebra and Geometry, in which kids love to collaborate and interact. This technology will continue to encourage the growth and learning of all students.
The Microsoft Surface Pro and Apple TV I am requesting will help me to address all the standards of mathematical practice to ensure an equitable environment for all my students to deepen their understandings of concepts. These include SMP #1 through 8. I will be able to engage students using interactive applets and dynamic geometry environments that are not available on their Chromebooks such as Geometers sketch pad, etc. Additionally, students will be able to share their work on the Chromebooks by connecting to this technology. This cannot happen currently with just the interactive board. The Microsoft Surface Pro and Apple TV I am requesting will allow students this access.
