I am requesting a carpet, wobble cushions and comfy floor seats. Students who have a choice in their learning tend to take more responsibility in it. With flexible seating students’ engagement levels increase, they take more ownership in their learning, and learn valuable lessons about themselves in regards to which environments they are more successful in and with whom they work best with.
Students who have choice feel empowered and feel that they are a part of a community in their classroom. Through flexible seating this will be achieved. I would like to be able to provide my students with a variety of seating options as well as tabletop options to encourage them to find which style helps them be their most successful selves in our classroom. I also aim to create an environment that my students want to be in all day and feel at home in.
My students, who come from a variety of learning needs and styles, would greatly benefit from the opportunity to experience flexible seating as they grow into the amazing learners they are.
