My favorite subject in school was always my language arts classes. Not only was I great at it, but it was fun because I got to be creative. I ended up pursuing a career in journalism and public relations before this, a career that I could use my writing/speaking skills and be creative. As a first-year teacher, I am looking forward to providing my students with books they can read during intervention, for early finishers, and to take home to enjoy. I have plans of doing independent readings, guided readings, informal book presentations, and small group readings/discussions with the variety of books I have chosen. Language arts allows children to explore, imagine, be creative, and think critically. By having a classroom library of my own, I can show my students that learning can be fun and rewarding! I hope to show my students that strong language arts skills are important—and rewarding—for any "dream job" they may want to pursue.
