The academic day in our classroom is very versatile as these students have very unique and individual needs. This will help us be able to meet those needs in a variety of different ways. These items give us the versatility to offer choices and different options for our students. These are students that need to be provided with sensory-seeking activities while doing their academic instruction. Receiving their instruction with sensory tools will help engage them in their learning.
The reason I chose the materials that I did is because we have new students coming into our program and new class expectations. The items I chose will be able to be used in different ways to meet the needs of our students, whatever they may be.
One challenge we have is having students between ages of 5 and 11 with an even wider spectrum of developmental and ability levels. These items are able to adapt and engage these students and meet them at their specific level.
