All students should be given the proper resources to excel and be successful members of society. The Leadership course provides vital skills for high school students to become college and career ready. The focal point is on creating resumes, cover letters, college applications, scholarship essays and community service events. Students will be working on public speaking and will be gaining an competitive advantage before entering the real-world. Students will be developing their own leadership portfolio, that will showcase their plans for the future which includes long-term and short-term goals. The materials that are requested will allow students to be able to advance their essay writing, team-building, planning of school community activities and their own individualized leadership skills . The two-pocket portfolio folders are vital for students to house their resumes, cover letters and scholarship essays throughout the school year so they can utilize upon graduation to showcase their personal leadership development. The printer is needed for students to print various job applications, resumes, cover letters and essays during class if they don't have one at home. The presenter with laser pointer item would be specifically for our public-speaking unit as well as group presentations. This item would allow students to capture the audience attention and the ability to move freely across the classroom while presenting. Students will use the additional items such as the pencil sharpener, pens, pencils, dry erase markers, highlighters, paper clips, glue sticks, stapler, scissors, hole punch, tabletop easel pad and tape dispenser as they fully create the leadership portfolio as well as group projects with creating school-community activities. My students will use each item to assist with forming the foundation of effective leadership among future young adults. With your support, I can implement the leadership portfolio which will motivate students to take ownership and responsibility. Thanks!
