This past year was difficult for our students due to COVID in which they were asked to carry all of their school materials with them to school and back home. At times, the student's backpacks would easily weigh 30-40 lbs due to school books and Chromebooks that were being transported from school to home and back to school.
It was not long before the backpacks began having noticeable wear and tear due to the weight of the materials being forced in them. While some students have a hard time with being provided with their first backpack, it was even harder to ask their parents to purchase a second backpack because the first one broke or ripped.
The room that my students will be in this year does not have space such as cubbies for them to place their backpacks. The only place the students will have to store their backpacks is either on the back of their chair or on the floor. My students are in 1st grade and the thought of one of them tripping over a backpack on the floor terrifies me. I always want their safety to come first, and I believe this backpack cart would be the perfect solution to store them properly and safely.
