This project will allow each of my kindergarteners to build their own personal collection of books throughout the year. They will be able to create a collection of books that have meaning and importance to them. This will also promote an excitement and incentive to learning to read in our kindergarten class, because as they become better readers they will be able to expand their library. My hope is for each of the students to have a full bin of personal books at the end of the year.
By creating their own collection of books, the students will begin to build skills in self-regulation and self-sufficiency as well as a love of learning.
