Even in our technology and digital-driven age, students still need to develop their literacy skills! While the advancements in digital media contribute to students鈥 learning, it鈥檚 proven that breaks from screen time and tactile, hands-on texts, improve students鈥 literary retention. Students will improve their ELA skills as well as continue to develop as reflective, mindful learners. Coelho鈥檚 鈥淭he Alchemist,鈥 an allegorical fable, pairs excellent in conjunction with other literary genres such as Aesop鈥檚 fables, the study of myths and legends from around the world, creation stories and other studies, including modern day, spoken word poetry, taught in World Literature.
