My students live in a variety of households - apartments, town homes, houses, etc. Growing food does not come easy to those without yard space for the typical "garden". More than half of my students come from low-income households - teaching them to grow their own food would not only benefit them, but also their families. Growing veggies and plants can help with child hunger and childhood obesity by teaching them at this young age. Growing healthy food can be for everyone. Having a plant stand could also help us collab with our FCS program - the students could use food that they grew in various recipes.
