This year my students will study a year-long inquiry project related to contemporary food insecurity in Hawai'i. They will learn how our island of O'ahu is affected by food insecurity, historical Hawaiian food systems in our ahupua'a, the use of Victory Gardens throughout history, and will learn how to build a school garden. We will be learning about Social Studies content while building a school garden.
These materials will help my students with the hands-on portion of our year-long project. We are looking forward to getting out of the classroom and connecting with the 'aina.
