These materials will help students by having a comfortable place to go for small group time. When students stay at their desks, they might not be able to see the board as well and could have more distractions, such as other materials in their desks.
Having a rug in my classroom will help students feel more engaged with the lesson and have an opportunity to move around, rather than being stuck at their desk all day. We would use this rug mostly for small group during math, but could also use it for "Morning Meetings" where we discuss our schedule, our feelings, and much more. We could also use this rug for group projects, such as science experiments.
