The headphones with microphones will assist my students in their retelling abilities meeting standard: RL.1.2Â - Retell stories, including key details, and demonstrate understanding of their central message or lesson. If students are able to comprehend and retell a story, this will help with their writing skills when it comes time to write a story of their own which will relate to this writing standard: W.1.3:Â Write narratives in which they recount two or more appropriately sequenced events, include some details regarding what happened, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide some sense of closure. Being able to use the headphones to listen to the story and record themselves retelling the story will allow extra time in the classroom for whole group lessons and discussions about important characters, setting, and details from the story because I'd have the opportunity to listen to the recordings on my prep time or after school instead of taking away 40 minutes of instructional time during the day!
