Time spent at school gives children the opportunity to engage with peers and develop skills to enhance their social and emotional experiences. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process wherein my students develop the skills to recognize and manage emotions; set and achieve positive goals; appreciate the perspectives of others; establish and maintain positive relationships; and make responsible decisions.
By addressing SEL in the classroom, my students begin cooperating and helping each other which creates a healthy atmosphere and supports student health and academic performance. We will use the rug to sit in our circle to have our daily meetings on various topics or sometimes we just breathe.
Some of the benefits of SEL in my classroom are my students:
• think differently and it builds their self-esteem,
• it helps them cope with feelings,
• improve inter-personals skills like working in teams,
• resolving conflicts, bullying, or sometimes we just breath
