Some students wake up eager to learn and can't wait to get to school. Others come dragging in with their eyes barely open. It is my intention to even that playing field by jumpstarting everyone's day. The items I am asking to be funded will be used during the first part of our mornings to provide my students with the opportunity to begin each day by exploring, creating, and connecting to their world through self-directed activities that interests them. I believe beginning each day in this manner will boost their critical thinking skills and build their confidence. It will also enhance positive social interaction that I can build on throughout the day.
With these items, I can provide something for everyone. The kinesthetic learners will love the hands on engineering and creating. The visual artistic learners will enjoy expressing themselves using the art supplies. The inquisitive learners will enjoy exploring the National Geographic texts as they learn about their world.
These items will also enrich our day beyond our morning jumpstart. Headphones will be used for station time or independent learning activities on the chrome books; whiteboard erasers will be used daily for small group instruction, and the books will be used as cleaver tools to connect math to our everyday lives.
In our class, we utilize technology and integrate content across the curriculum, so projects and self-directed learning opportunities are ever present. These items will be tools used during those learning experiences. Making learning Math and Science relevant to their worlds and fun is my goal.
