My students enter our classroom excited and eager to take on a day of learning! It is my goal to create a learning environment for my students that supports their academic growth, social-emotional development, teaches life skills, and prepares them for life in our current world.
Most importantly, to reach this goal, I want my scholars to have access to diverse books.
My students are eager and enthusiastic learners. They are curious about the world around them and are filled with wonder. I want them to see themselves in the books they read.
Access to these books will support our learning in our EL Education Module 1. The focus of this module is Stories of Human Rights --> What are human rights, and how do real people and fictional characters respond when those rights are threatened? Additionally, in this module, scholars will work to develop their ability to read and understand complex text as they consider these questions. These books will also help my students practice their reading strategies, fluency, and enhance their comprehension. Books are a tremendous teaching tool that can reinforce our learning in all content areas and help cultivate a love of reading.
This classroom library will provide access to diverse books for my 5th graders to read each and every day. Students will be able to check out books from my classroom library to read in school and at home.
This classroom library will be a wonderful addition to my classroom and will support me in my efforts to motivate my 5th graders to become life-long readers and learners!
