Listening is essential for learning to happen! My students are English Language Learners who are learning to read, write, speak and listen in English. Listening centers benefit students by building sight word vocabulary, model of phrasing and fluency, exposure to a variety of story genres, and increase listening skills. This listening center includes individual books and CDs for students to listen to. Students will have the opportunity to listen to a book on CD independently during literacy centers. Outcomes expected include the students ability to retell, make connections to text, make predictions, and comprehension of story elements characters, setting, beginning/middle/ end, and conclusion. Help my students gain reading skills through listening!
