Our small elementary school with students in grades kindergarten through fifth grades is located in an urban area with a population of over 90% economically disadvantaged and minority students. Although many of our children and their families struggle financially they still care deeply about receiving a quality education. Instilling a lifelong love of reading is one of our most urgent goals. We understand the necessity of providing meaningful reading opportunies for our kids, in the form of story times, reading book clubs and reading goal celebrations. An enhanced reading space in our media center would be a huge asset to both the students and our staff.
