Help us enhance our learning by fostering creativity, imagination, and passion through the use of a Dramatic Play Center. Each month, students will have a theme at the dramatic play center (an adorable "shop" created from some wooden crates and plywood). That theme will open the door for them to create, play, and learn. For example, students will attend the "Apple Orchard" at the dramatic play center in September. At the center, they can count, sort, and weigh apples, pretend they are a farmer harvesting, or create an apple themed store or menu. It is totally up to them!
The benefits of a Dramatic Play Center are truly endless. Students will explore math concepts and deepen their understanding of counting, sorting, adding, and subtracting, and those who are ready may explore concepts beyond first grade (like counting money and making change!). They will take experiences from their own lives and from books they have read and apply this to their play. They will problem-solve, practicing taking turns, and see cause and effect relationships in action. The Dramatic Play Center will give children authentic opportunities for exploration across subject areas, increase social engagement and awareness, and bring more joy to everyday learning.
