As a therapeutic room, these items will offer various environmental changes for kids to regulate emotions and build relationships with staff and with peers.
Children will be able to gather on the carpet, engage in social-emotional activities in a different physical way according to their learning style and needs.
The lamps will be used as a calming lighting source to eliminate the overstimulating glow of fluorescent light.
The chairs will be part of a relationship-building area of the classroom where students and staff will sit to engage in therapeutic conversation and skill-building activities.
The gray bins will house games, fidgets, and other lesson materials for children on their own or with groups.
My position is new this year and I am so passionate about creating an environment where at-risk students feel safe, comfortable, and loved.
