First graders need to move and they love not having to sit in a hard chair all day. We have a few options already in the classroom and my students really enjoy them. They would like to have a few more options to choose from though. Flexible seating allows my students to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand. This will help increase oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength. In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep their young minds more alert and focused.
