My goal for this year is to create a physical space for my students to spark their creativity and inspire them the excel academically. I will purchase posters/visual aids of significant events and figures in US history. I will specifically emphasize figures from traditionally marginalized communities and highlight the ways in which they have contributed to our society. The posters/visual aids will serve as a daily physical reminder (particularly for students who may get distracted and look out into the distance) of amazing things that people like MLK Jr and Mae Jemison were able to achieve. I hope that my students are inspired by the fact that people who look like them have made a positive impact on America as a whole.
