The Alphabet rug will create a space where my students can choose their spot for reading and other class activities. I believe kids need to move around during the day, not just sit in their desks. This rug will give them opportunity to sit on the floor and because it has spaces it will help implement a seating arrangement that will help second graders know where they need to be.
Learning should be fun and active and this rug will help me implement this! The rug will also be used for learning games, the spaces allowing students to move from one place to the other in a game similar to Chutes and Ladders.
