I teach second grade at a STEM school in San Antonio TX. Young students often have misconceptions when it comes to science. Having hands on learning resources builds a solid foundation in their learning, and clarify those misconceptions. The solar system will be used to teach our planetary alignment, orbit, and gravity. Having these helps students see exactly how our solar system works, as opposed to a video or diagram which can cause confusion. The building materials teach structure. The butterfly kit teaches the life cycle. We will grow our own butterfly and record our observations daily. The other items are used to teach various state standards and conduct various activities.
