I have created a diverse and comprehensive elementary library of the profiled primary books using the resource book "Classroom Reading to Engage the Heart & Mind 200+ Picture Books to Start SEL Conversations" by Nancy Boyles. Along with the rolling library cart, I can share this library with all 30 teachers in my building. The teachers will then incorporate these books into their literacy lessons throughout the year with all 600 students in my building.
As the elementary school counselor I know the benefits of incorporating social and emotional learning into an elementary student's school day. Feel free to visit the CASEL.org website which states that "SEL plays an important role in classroom climate—for example, how teachers build relationships with students, how students build relationships with each other, and how conflict and discipline are addressed."
