We have to instill the love of reading in every child so that they may become life long readers. Too much stress is put on standardized testing, but we have to offer students the chance to read a variety of books from all genres rather than giving them assigned whole class novel studies. These books will help my diverse learners get to places they have never been and open their minds to the love of reading for enjoyment rather than passing a test. These books will be our class libraries and can go home to further reading. Students who leave my classroom can come back the following years to continue enjoying the books for years to come.
