Throughout the school day, my students often need a break from the general education classroom. My classroom serves as a safe space for students to spend time, in order to recharge and regulate, so that they are able to learn. For some students, this looks like a movement break: jumping on a trampoline, having a dancing party - getting those wiggles out! For other students, this looks like a calming moment: sitting somewhere comfortable and safe, getting a squeeze - winding down. It is my goal to provide my students with a safe space that will support their sensory needs and allow them to develop their self-regulation skills, so that they are ready and equipped to be strong and independent learners.
