The materials I have selected for this project will be used to create a space where students in my class can go when their emotions start to feel too big for them. As a special education inclusion classroom, a big focus in our learning community is strategies to regulate our feelings.
Creating this "Calm Down Safe Space" will provide my students with the tools they need to take control of their own self-regulation journeys. The sensory toys, books, and other materials will provide each student with an appropriate strategy to help them understand and process the large emotion they are feeling.
