The students in my classroom face academic challenges on the daily basis; having developmental delays, ADD, ADHD, or other disabilities. Most of the students also come from high poverty families and receive free or reduced lunch.
My students receive many services throughout the day. On top of being in a classroom with a reduced class size of 13, the students receive occupational therapy, speech, physical therapy, adaptive PE, and two teachers.
I came into this classroom as a sub, and now I am there as the permanent teacher. I would like to give the students every opportunity as if they were in a general education classroom. To me, these students are normal in every way, shape, form and fashion, and that is how I teach them. Due to this, their scores have risen by 10% in every area. I would like to continue to build on their newly learned skills and love for literacy by providing them with centers that can enhance and allow them to practice all of their skills.
