I have had the opportunity to witness 1st hand, the success of flexible seating. Some of my 4th grade colleagues choose to use flexible seating and their students thrive in their classrooms. I want to offer flexible seating in my 5th grade classroom to continue the level of care they received in the previous grade. I want them to feel comfortable, loved, and nurtured as they continue on their learning adventure.
Flexible seating options will help students be comfortable and it gives students a voice and a choice in their learning environment. Choosing where to sit and what type of seating to use will help students engage in the classroom. I chose four different kinds of flexible seating options to try to meet the needs of all students. I have included flex-space wobble chairs, ergo bounce chairs, flex-space wobble cushions, and flex-space floor seats. The flexible seating will certainly be more comfortable and appealing to students.
I think the return to in-person learning is going to be a difficult transition for some students. I'm looking forward to giving them flexible seating options to support their learning.
