All children learn in different ways and I plan to approach the educational experience of my students using many different methods to meet these needs. In spite of their intellectual, communication, and social delays, these kids still desire to learn and be creative. A STEM Station will allow my students to calculate, assess, predict, experiment and even hypothesize! A magnetic dry erase room divider will be used to divide the STEM Station and a small group teaching center. It will define spaces and limit distractions. The magnetic surface gives students a place for the Gears, Ten-Frame and other magnetic materials. The STEM Station will be a center for independent exploration of math and science. The Monster Math Balance Scale will be an exciting way to learn equal equations, and the Can Do Color & Light kit provides supplies for simple experiments. A multi-sensory, multi-faceted approach to learning can be very effective for all students, but particularly those with special needs. These hands-on learning materials will allow these learners to be creative. A STEM station will give my students engaging activities. When they are engaged, they will work independently for longer periods. This allows me the opportunity to work with individual students on their specific goals.
