The tables are shaped in a "kidney" shape that allows students room to work individually and/or in small groups. Materials can be shared in the curved space and allow adult support and interaction as needed for young students. The tables also provide students the opportunity to make eye contact and promote language skills by facing the speaker at the table.
The shape of these tables allows young children, who oftentimes need teacher support, to look directly at the teacher and the materials being used. The tables provide additional support for students with special needs. The tables provide immediate adult assistance, directly in front of them, to enhance their independence with minimal support. Preschool teaches independence while providing support for developing skills and enhancing the already present skills. Tables such as these allow for easier access and sharing of materials for young children.
