Do you remember Algebra I? How about y=mx+b? Most of you are probably wrinkling your nose up right now.
What if you had the opportunity to experience the math equations are where each of the variable parts came from instead of doing 30 math problems at the end of a boring lecture? This is the purpose of my project. I would like to provide real-world experiences with linear equations with a focus on slope and y-intercept. The CBR 2 would allow just this in my Math 8 and Algebra classroom.
The students will be able to experience slope by "walking" the graph with the CBR (calculator-based ranger). Then look at the data tables on the graphing calculators.
