Setting up a ‘chill/sensory’ corner in the classroom gives children the responsibility of self-regulating their own emotions in a peaceful and safe place. When children feel frustration, anger, sadness, or anxiety, they become confused and may be unsure how to control their emotions. By providing them with a quiet place to calm themselves down, children are then able to regain control over their own emotions. Students will also have a comfortable place to sit and read or use the flexible seating to work on their individualized lessons. This area of the classroom will be able to be utilized in multiple ways.
